Although, it didn't seem that fun when an hour before we needed to leave for Graham's party today, I was frosting the cake and it split into multiple pieces. I had sweat and chocolate frosting smeared on me, both children were crying, I was *maybe* on the verge of completely losing it when Joel saved me. He saved me just by being himself, a calming presence, and an extra set of hands. After we pieced it back together, glued it back together with frosting, then smothered it with a ton more frosting, no one was the wiser (until I told them!). Cake was yummy too, which is a shocker because it was Graham-safe (Free of: dairy, nut, egg, gluten, sesame).
Seems I am baking non-stop. We hosted 3 play-dates this month, plus brought snack to 2 others, plus all the events listed above. Joel almost always cleans the dishes. So a big public thank you to him!
Graham had so much fun today. We went bowling with our immediate families. He talked about it all night. He already is asking to go bowling again.
Graham has been off of all therapies since Thanksgiving. It is so wonderful not having to run around anywhere. It is so relaxing and we are having a lot of fun! I have been in the process of trying to get Graham into a new type of therapy to work on his social skills. Such a long process to get insurance approvals, etc. Signed Graham up for baseball (T-ball) this summer. Should be fun.
Signed Macy up for Story-time at the library. She loved it. It was once a week for six weeks, but sadly it's over. It doesn't start back up until April. I also signed up for a stay-at-home-moms of toddlers group. We've been meeting for a few weeks now. We get together at least once a week with the kids. Last Friday, we had a Mom's Night Out. There are some really fun ladies in the group and we've been having a great time. The best part if several of the moms live within a mile of us. A lot of my friends don't have kids, and the ones that do live a distance from us, so it's not always easy to get together as often as we'd like.
Joel has been busy with work as usual. Hopefully soon there will be someone to help him out. Joel manages all the software programs for his group. The software could be utilized in so many areas, but of course there are only so many hours in a day. Of course, Joel likes to make more "hours in a day" by working weekends or evenings too, but he is doing a great job at work and at home, so I don't say too much about that.
We have been working out for quite a few months now. I would say about 6, though somewhere in there we took a 3 week break (when my dad was very sick, I think). We go twice during the week, then once on the weekend. I can't speak for Joel but I have really been busting my a$$, literally and figuratively. I work out so much differently than I used to. I think before I would just go through the motions or I wouldn't push myself as hard as I could. Now I work really hard. We put the kids in childcare, so I know we only have an hour so I really want to maximize it. I don't know if it's being cooped up all day or what, but I find it so invigorating, so I push myself hard. I love the endorphins. That said, every time it's time to go, I don't want to at all, I'd rather stay home, but I go anyway and it's worth it. I can feel myself getting stronger and more fit. On one of the weekdays, Joel and I run a mile, then do weights. The other weekday, I run 5 miles (Joel will run 1 or 2, then weights). On Saturdays, I work out with a trainer who kicks my butt. Sometimes, Joel goes to the gym on the weekends, but I don't go with him so I have no idea what he does.
The reason Joel doesn't always go to the gym on the weekend is because we have a big project in the works, we're finishing our basement. When we moved into this house 2 years ago, we had a long list of projects, and we're finally at this one and it's a big one. Right now, we have a design and plan, and Joel put together a list of materials to have Home Depot and Lowe's quote. Joel hopes to order materials this week and get started soon! He plans to do most of it himself (framing, insulation, electrical, flooring, and painting) and contract out the drywall and plumbing.
Speaking of home projects, we almost finished the playroom. :) I just need to get an armoire in there...hello? Craigslist anyone? So, I will show you that soon, and maybe even some of our older projects, but don't hold me to it.
So, yeah, that is life lately, ramblings....

Yay, basements! Sometimes I think "I wish I had kids so I could just toss them down there to play" :) Can't wait to see pictures of your project!
And man, that cake sounds good right now...
I could have written this. We've been so busy lately and usually the winter is the quiet time of the year. Not so this year! That's great that you are so committed to the gym. I need to be better about that sort of routine.
I had to crack up at the cake because that sounds like a reaction of my own! glad it turned out ok : )
You are busy! Sounds like our life. I thought February was supposed to be boring and calm?!
It does sound very busy, but very good Candice!
It sounds like you've been busy!
I hope Graham loves T-Ball!
You really have been busy girl. And bless your heart for getting all that baking done. I know I couldn't do it.
I was just telling my hubby yesterday that I don't know where this month went. I felt like I just gave birth two days ago, and now Liam is 3weeks already. Craziness.
Maybe the spring will slow things down a little for us :-)
