Macy is 19 months!

Macy,

You are 19 months old!  This was supposed to be an 18 month update, but well, when you procrastinate, it ends up being a 19 month update!  It’s hard to believe you are closer to two than one.  It does not feel like much time has passed since I had you, but each month flies by faster than the last.  I have tears in my eyes right now as I think about it.

Stats:
Weight: 19 lbs, 15 ozs – 13% (at 16 mos: 19 lbs, 1.5 ozs – 16%)
Length: 31 in – 18% (at 16 mos: 29.5 in – 11%)
Head: 46.5in – 54% (at 16 mos: 45.5 – 41%)
Teeth: 12. You have your top four, bottom 4, and all 4 1st molars.
Hair: Sandy blonde.  It’s getting long and thick.
Eyes: Blue with brown specks

Routine:
You wake at 8:30 (sometimes we have to get you up to keep you on your routine or you won’t nap). You usually nap from 12:30-2:30. You go to bed at 8:30.

You eat 3 meals, 1 snack, and 2-3 sippy cups of milk daily.  Your favorite foods are all fruits (apples, grapes, pineapple, pears, oranges, etc.).  The only one we have found so far that you don’t like is banana.  You also like sausage, ham, yogurt, and you love spaghetti.

It still feels like you are our baby.  I know you are not a baby any more, but you are still so shiny and new to me.  Every day is something new and I love watching you grow and develop.  You have blossomed so much in the last month.  I feel like I am really getting to see who you are.  You love to pretend.  You got a play kitchen for Christmas and you love to fill your teapot with water and drink tea.  You stir imaginary food in your bowl and feed your baby.

You are a true girly-girl.  You love to get dressed.  I usually bring you downstairs in your jammies.  Later when I bring an outfit downstairs, you come running over so excited to get changed.  If it happens to be a dress, even better, your face lights up and you twirl around.  I decided I would try to play on that and see if I could get you to let me do your hair.  I put your hair in pigtails and showed you how pretty they looked in the mirror.  Success!  You now wear pigtails quite often and you could not be cuter.  And of course, I have mentioned your fascination with shoes.  We might be in trouble later.  ;)

Your speech has picked up quite a bit in the last month.  Around 18 months, you had about 20 words that you would use regularly.  Now you have at least 30 that you use daily.  That’s just spontaneous speech.  As far as repeating, I couldn’t keep track if I tried.  You repeat a lot of what I say and even sounds, such as an elevator beep.  One word you have trouble saying is “Graham.”  When I’ve tried to get you to say it, you have said, “Gah,” or “Mema.”  I can’t wait to hear what you settle on.

You and Graham play very nicely together.  Sometimes you guys will play by yourselves in the playroom for upwards of an hour.  When I put you in there by yourself, you don’t like to play long, but if Graham is there you play much longer.   Like any siblings, you and Graham sometimes get into little spats, often regarding a desired toy.  When you do get into a little spat, I separate you, then will bring you back together after a little break.  Apologies are given, if necessary, and always a hug & kiss.  You love this so much!  You get so excited when I tell you guys to hug and kiss.  You run right up to Graham and look up at him expectantly, waiting for him to lean down.  It’s especially cute since you’re such a peanut compared to him.

You love to go outside.  On the few more mild days we had recently, we went outside.  You were running around everywhere.  Did I mention you’ve been running for a few months?   You protested when it was time to come back in.

You and I recently started attend Storytime at the library for 18-24 month olds.  The first time we attended, there were only a few mom and babes.  You were all over the place and wouldn’t sit in Mommy’s lap, just having a good old time.  This last time, there were double the moms and babes, you were much more reserved.  Could you have a touch of shyness?  It’s hard to believe as you don’t show that at home, that’s for sure.

You are still a mama’s girl, but I have noticed in the past few days maybe a bit less clinginess.  You have been in a phase for a looooong time, where you always want me to hold you.  I have always relished it knowing that it would not last.  One of my favorite silly games with you is that I pretend I don’t notice you sneaking up on me, then where you get close I turn around quickly and bark at you.  I know, I know, the silly things a mommy will do for laughs.  One of Daddy’s games with you is copycat: if he blinks, you blink; if he sticks out his tongue, you will; and it’s fits of laughter if he pretends to cough.  Both of us love how if we enter a room you light up.  If we sit on the floor to play, you will come running over to plop in our laps, every time, every single time.  It’s good to be loved.

You should know, because we love you so, so much sweet girl.  Thank you for being you, such a wonderful joy in our lives!

Love,
Mommy

I LOVE the pigtails....Macy is very small. I say that because our 7-month old Kate weighs just over 19 pounds :)

Ahh, she is getting big.

You all did well with the sleeping and nap times. I dreaded when ours transitioned out of napping, but I obviously survived (with lots of whining included of course).

Wonderful shots Candice.
