Christmas at my parents Part 2- My dad's home!

This is officially my last post about Christmas 2012.  I got it up in January, so I would call that a win.

As I mentioned before, when we celebrated Christmas Eve at my parents, my dad was still in the hospital.  In some ways, he was doing okay, but in others, he wasn't doing well at all.  The celebration on Christmas Eve was as good as it could be under the circumstances, but we were all disheartened.  My mom went ahead with it in hopes that we would all feel better being together.  Of course, we also had high hopes for a full recovery for my dad and plans to celebrate Christmas when he was out of the hospital.  We had no idea when that would be.

I remember my best-friend saying to me in comfort, "Well, I hope you get a Christmas miracle," with doubt in her voice.

On Christmas morning, I called my dad, just as I did every morning when he was in the hospital.  Immediately, I could tell he was doing so much better.  I could hear it in his voice.  It was like a switch was flipped and he was cured.  I started crying happy tears and relished our conversation as I hadn't been able to in weeks!!  When we got off the phone I called my mom and sisters and told them I knew he was better.  I hadn't even talked to the doctors yet, but I could tell.  A little while later, my mom called me and told me the doctors also felt he was well on his way to recovery.  He ended up being released from the hospital on 12/27. It was a long month!

We ended up celebrating Christmas with my parents on December 30.  My mom made a wonderful meal and we exchanged gifts.  Among his gifts, Graham got a music set and a sock monkey hat.  Macy received a singing goat and the cutest little ballerina bear backpack.  My mom and dad also got us a beautiful Christmas Tree skirt.  For years, we had just been using a gold colored bed sheet.

I know it's really cheesy and cliche to say, but the best gift of all really was getting to spend time with my family.  Christmas 2012 was truly wonderful.  I got everything I could have wanted, and then some!

Just a few pictures:

The guest of honor!

My dad got my mom a beautiful Tiffany style lamp for Christmas.  It was just what she wanted, as she picked it out herself!

Peek-a-boo!

He loved it!

Your dad reminds me of my own. They look rather similar. I'm so glad that he is home and doing better; it looks like you all enjoyed the celebration very much! I hope that your dad has been in much better health since then. Lovely pictures!
