Macy is 5 Months!!

Macy Rose,

Happy 5 months beautiful girl! This month, your personality has really come out. You laugh out loud, with lots of giggles and tons of smiles in between. Each month, you become more and more content. You seldom have fussy periods. If you ever fuss, we know it’s time for a nap. As for sleep, you still sleep about 12 hours overnight, from 9 to 9. During the day, you take several cat naps (about 15 minutes) and have one or two 45 minute naps. A big change this past month is that you started sleeping in your crib. It was born out of necessity the night you turned 4 months. Daddy had a bad cold and was coughing quite a bit (and quite loudly) so we put you in your room so you could sleep peacefully. The next morning, we left for San Diego, and shared a room for a week. Once we came home, you’ve napped and slept overnight in your room since. The transition was seamless, as I figured it would be since you’ve have been sleeping through the night for so long. You go to sleep easily. I nurse you, and either Daddy or I rock you for a few minutes and lay you down awake. You may or may not fuss for about 5 minutes, but then you drift off and we don’t hear from you again until morning. That’s not to say we don’t sneak in and watch you sleep, angel!

You have really developed an interest in toys. You will scoot all around your mat during tummy time playing with your toys. You love your rings, just like your brother did. They are a big hit for little teething mouths. You haven’t cut any teeth yet, but you seem to be working on it. You roll from tummy to back about once a day, but you don’t seem to remember that skill when you’re tired of tummy time, as you’ll often cry for us to rescue you (i.e. flip you). Part of me is glad you don’t remember it or you’d probably do little tummy time, instead preferring to flip over. You seem quite capable of rolling, judging by how high you can push yourself up, and how you scoot around your mat. You also like when we hold your fingers so you can stand. You bear the weight on your own, we just help with balance. Big girl! You like to sit in your bumbo seat and watch us prepare dinner, or move about the house. Your favorite person to watch is Graham. You just sit and smile at him in all his silliness. He makes us smile too, so we know how you feel.

You are the cutest little thing. Your eyes are still blue. Your hair has lightened quite a bit from birth. So much of it has fallen out and you have a bald spot in back where it’s rubbed off. You still have way more than Graham did at this age.

Every day you bring tears of joy to my eyes! I can’t believe how blessed I am to be your mommy! Even though it has been 5 months, I still can’t help but think that it wasn’t all that long ago when I would lay in bed every night, patting my belly, thinking about my daughter who I would soon meet, and who would undoubtedly make my heart grow with so much love. You have exceeded my every dream! I love you more than I could ever put into words.
