7 Years!!

Today is my and Joel's 7th wedding anniversary!

I will never forget that day in Mexico. It was sunny. It was beautiful. We were surrounded by our closest loved ones. It was perfect. I married my best-friend, my true love!

Tonight we are headed out to a local outdoor mall where Joel and I will eat take-out while sitting on a park bench watching our 3 yr old splash in fountains, with a newborn girl in a stroller next to us. How perfect is that?? This is the life I tell you!

This is exactly how I envisioned our anniversary last October. Let me tell you a story. After all, there is no better time to tell of how you learned you were pregnant than when your newborn is 2 weeks old!

Last October we decided we were going to start trying for a baby. It was a pretty hectic month. One of my best-friends got married that month and I was in the wedding. Also, we took a trip to Captiva Island, FL. Anyway, by the time Jamie's wedding rolled around I did not think I was pregnant. I was not late yet, but I didn't think our timing was very great and I was feeling like my cycle would start soon. I took a pregnancy test the day before her wedding and it was negative.

The day after her wedding, Sunday, we left for FL. We were running late for the airport and had no time to pick up a test, so still thinking I wasn't pregnant I just planned to wait it out. A couple days into our trip, still nothing. Now I was late. I was going crazy, full of excitement, but not wanting to get my hopes up. I was keeping it all in, not wanting to get Joel's hopes up either. One eensy weensey problem- no stores anywhere near our resort carried pregnancy tests and we didn't have a car. Finally I had an epiphany and asked one of the store if there were able to get items from the main land and bring them back. They said yes, it would cost me $1 and take 3 hours. Why didn't I think of it sooner?? By now it was Thursday, the last night of our trip. I got the call that the test was in and I hiked to the store and got it. I seriously did so much walking that day.

I took the test...you know the result...here was my reaction!

I was literally screaming, by myself, in our hotel bathroom. I could not believe we got pregnant on the 1st month of trying again!

It was our last night of vacation and Joel and I planned an evening out alone together as every other night we ate with his co-workers. We walked the beach to get to the restaurant. As we walked I was telling him how nice it was to get away with him and I wondered when our next trip together would be. I said, "We usually go somewhere for our anniversary, but I don't think we will be able to this year." He of course asked why. I said, "Because we will have a newborn at home!"

He just looked and me and this big smile spread across his face and he asked me, "Are you pregnant??!!" I said yes, and then we had a moment. Then we took a picture of our moment. Seriously, how happy do we look??

Then we took my first belly pics. :)

We had a wonderful dinner with fun, exciting conversation about all things BABY!! And of course, preggy needs dessert...key lime pie!

So here we are at our anniversary, no vacation. Just a night out with my family!

Who could ask for more?!

10 years of love, 7 years of marriage, 8 homes, 2 babies, and countless memories!!

I love you forever Joel!! Happy anniversary!!
