On Mother’s Day, Joel and I planned visits to our moms, so our morning was short. Joel and Graham gave me my gift. I got the sweetest card from Joel and a beautiful figurine of an African woman and her child. It evoked a beautiful sense of motherhood and reminds me of our time in South Africa.

We headed to Joel’s parents first. Graham had time to put together his favorite puzzles (numbers and letters) and give grandma her gift and card.
Then we headed to my parents to do the same. Additionally, my sister had gone to the farmers market the day before and picked up flowers to plant at my late kitty’s grave.
Graham had such fun playing in the yard and helping Aunt Nickey.

It turned out beautifully, thanks to my sister. I’m terrible at that sort of thing. By the way, isn’t his gravestone luxurious for a cat? It’s the piece of granite that was cut out for Joel’s parent’s sink when they got new counters. They joked that it looked like a gravestone, so when Joey passed a few days later they offered it to me.

I had a wonderful Mother’s Day. I was with my family…what more could I ask for? That being said, my favorite Mother’s Day (I’ve had 3 now, you know?) was my first. Obviously because it was my first, but also because of how we spent the day. Graham was only 2.5 mos old. When I went to get him from his crib in the morning there was a mommy and baby bunny stuffed animal set as well as a card. Graham and I spent the entire day cuddling and dozing. It was so perfect.
Last Saturday was my unplanned Mother’s Day Round 2. Graham woke up wanting his mama and only his mama. I was eating breakfast in bed catching up on my DVR when Joel got Graham up. He cried…and cried…and cried. So, Joel brought him in to see me. All smiles! He hung out with me in bed drinking his milk while I ate breakfast. Then we cuddled and sang songs...it was a love fest. He was so content to hang out with me for a good hour. Most of the time, like a typical little boy, he wakes up and goes from room to room tearing the place apart!
The mommy love didn’t stop there. We went to a party at a friend’s and Graham was so adorable as usual. He would be social, but would always come running back to Mommy. In fact, I felt terrible because this one woman was trying to read him a story, and he kept picking up the book and bringing it to me. It was really sweet, but I would have preferred if he would have let her read it. I love to watch others enjoy Graham’s company. He’s so delightful, and when others think so too, we immediately have that in common! :P
To top the day off, Joel snapped my new favorite picture of Graham and I. We forgot on Mother’s Day (and my first Mother’s Day). Unless I say, “Take a picture of us,” it doesn’t happen…and I always feel silly saying that. I was a little jealous reading everyone else’s blogs and seeing cute mommy and me pics…but now I have my own! And I love how he is playing with my shirt. Whenever I hold him, he is always playing with my hair, or my earring, or my shirt…and always so gentle. Love that!

awww, that pic is so great. Love this post. Happy Mother's Day1
Very nice photo of you and Graham...My Mother's Day gift from Marc this year was a frame to put a photo of Luke and me in...because we have very few photos of Luke and me since I'm always the one with the camera. So, when we actually get that photo taken, I'll post it :)
Graham is seriously such a cutie boy! I love these pictures. What a great mothers day you had. And I agree that its kind of nice those days when they just want mama and they are so cuddly and loving :)
I'm glad you had a good holiday.
By the way, that headstone is seriously very fancy for a cat. Wow, that must have been one special cat.
Gorgeous pic!! Now, I'm jealous, because I don't look quite as picture perfect as you do in mine! Glad you had a good Mother's Day though!
That's a great new favorite picture of you and Graham, you look perfect and he's cute as always!
