Anyway, back to the house hunting. The first one was a total dump, the second needed work, and the third was perfect. It is a three bedroom, 2.5 bath house with an open floor plan and a semi-finished basement (well finished enough for us to put an office down there anyway). It is impeccably cleaned and maintained, as well as nice decor. We'll be in Sterling Hts. Joel has only seen pictures, so I guess he trusts me. We move in January 15. Here's hopin' we have all our stuff by then...

Congrats! I do hope you get all of your stuff by then. Looks (at least in the photos) that it will be a great home for you guys.
Love your new house....so pleased you found something you like...I wonder what how this house compares to the one you lived in back in Africa...
I hear the styles, stoves etc are very different. I have no idea!
What a pretty house!!

It's beautiful!
Marcelle- house in South Africa are usually tiles floors and concrete walls. Here homes have tile in bathrooms and kitchens and carpet through the rest, often. The walls are drywall.
Erin- We'll be 25 mminutes from Joel's parents, 50 from mine, 10 minutes from Joel's work.
