A Fabulous Saturday

We had a beautiful day in PE yesterday. It is spring here, but as I mentioned in my last post, that doesn’t always mean warm weather. However, yesterday was perfect. Warm, not hot, sunny, no wind…just perfect.

The day started with Joel bringing me coffee in bed. He usually brings me breakfast in bed every Saturday and Sunday. Don’t get too jealous…it’s only an english muffin and coffee, but it makes me feel so special. Anyway. Yesterday it was just coffee since I wanted to whip us up a batch of the best pancakes ever. Joel agreed…total YUM! We think it’s the whole-wheat flour that gives them so much flavor. Also, the raisins are a nice change from blueberries as they are sweeter.

To take advantage of the weather, we decided to grill out, or have a braai as they say in South Africa. Joel went grocery shopping in the morning and he came back with flowers and liquor. According to him, “Look hon, your two favorite things!” Yeah right. Actually my two favorite things are people.

So, I whipped us up some cocktails. I made a couple Sex on the Beach drinks. [Insert joke or inappropriate question here.] The cocktails were soooooooo good. We’re usually beer people so it was a nice change.

While waiting for the food on the grill, we practiced walking with Graham. He is a very proficient walker. He can walk far distances, change directions, etc. His only problem is confidence. Graham tends to only walk when Joel and I are around. We think he doesn’t like to fall because he’s a perfectionist. He may have taken his time getting there, but when he took his first steps, they were very controlled and he walked far for a first time walker. It almost seems like Graham doesn’t want to do anything unless he can do it right. We wouldn’t be surprised as Joel and I are very much like that. So, we have been working on it. Basically, once he starts walking, we run away so he realizes he doesn’t need us. It seems to be helping. He has really learned how to fall gracefully.

I’m particularly indecisive about my pics of Graham today, so lots of them for your viewing pleasure. This pic is right before Joel lets go and runs away. Notice the adorable T-shirt we got him in Cape Town. It has Table Mountain, the penguins, dolphins and reads, “Someone who loves me bought me this T-shirt in Cape Town.” So true, so cheesy, so cute!

“Take this hat off me, or I swear I’ll scream. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!”

We don’t know what this pose is about, but he has been doing it a lot lately.

Cuteness.

More cuteness.

I love this next one because it shows off how his hair is looking most days…just a little tuft. So cute. Kind of like the little tuft on the duck hat above. :)

One thing Graham has always loved is a breeze. Loves it, love it, loves it! When ever it’s windy, I’m busy trying to shield his face so sand or something doesn’t blow into his face, and he’s busy pushing me out of the way, laughing hysterically. He’s like a little dog; he faces the wind with his mouth open tasting the air. LOL

Little Grahamie comb-over. LOL

We made a menu that Graham could enjoy as well. Enjoy we did. After dinner we just hung out, played with our Grahamie. We were having so much fun it was 9:45 before we put our peanut to bed. He is such a little night owl. He gets the most energetic and giggly at night, so it’s hard to ever put him to bed. It was a great day. Very needed as I have been a bit homesick lately. Nothing like a day like that to show you no matter how far from home, we always have each other and that is the most important thing!

Oh that sounds like a great day - and PE is quite the place for breazes (and wind)! LOL!

I see you are having a cold day today.

HI...found your blog via Cat's blog comments. You have the same name as my BFF and your son shares her son's name. I though that was a little ironic, so I decided to pop over to your blog.
First..."G" is oh so cute! Very interesting that you have lived in South Africa because of job location, but that you are coming home soon. I am sure you are excited. Read a couple of the most recent posts...the safari seemed like fun and very interesting. I will come back to see how things are going. Nice to "Read" (meet) you!
